Sunday March 27, 2005 is Easter. Pascha, another holiday celebrated by Christians, follows later in the spring. One of the symbols shared by these holidays is the egg. Eggs were believed to symbolize rebirth and renewal, and celebrants of both holidays still use eggs in their celebrations.
For Easter, eggs are dyed and decorated, then hidden in the grass for children to find (an Easter egg hunt). Pascha incorporates eggs into a feast, hard-boiling and then dying them red. As a game, two people tap their eggs together trying to crack each other’s egg. The person who cracks the other’s egg first is said to have good luck for the rest of the year.
If ten hens (each) lay an average of four eggs a day, how many days would it take them to lay ten dozen eggs?
